Full Bio

Loïc Schwaller, also known as loackme, is a French generative artist currently based in Amsterdam. He holds a PhD in Statistics and initially worked as a researcher before leaving academia in 2018 to focus full-time on digital art and graphic design. Combining his mathematical background with a passion for creative coding, Loïc approaches his art with a methodical mindset.

Loïc’s artistic practice centers on monochrome and geometric designs, often realized through animated loops. He is particularly drawn to the constraints and aesthetics of dithering algorithms, using them to create the illusion of complex shading and subtle gradations within a limited color palette. His work prioritizes reductive visual elements and seamless motion, frequently employing the GIF format to achieve hypnotic, endlessly looping animations that challenge conventional digital media formats. Through his explorations, Loïc combines his academic background with creative expression, producing pieces that are minimal and richly textured in their visual impact.

Loïc’s work has been featured in major exhibitions including PARIS+ par Art Basel, The Pixel Generation at Unit London, and XPRMNT at Galerie Data in Paris. Loïc’s work has been featured in major exhibitions including PARIS+ par Art Basel, The Pixel Generation at Unit London, and XPRMNT at Galerie Data in Paris. He was a finalist for the CONTACT ATTEMPT award at the Hamburg and Bochum Planetariums, and for the ABS Emerging Artist of the Year Award from Arab Bank Switzerland. At the core of his practice is a focused investigation of code as a tool for visual storytelling.
