Description

In his ongoing _Fingertip _series, Shojiro Nakaoka draws on his background as a composer to translate sound waves into visual form. Working with Python-based code in Processing, he converts audio files into data that guide a pen plotter’s arm across the page.

In Fingertip No. 8, taut monochrome lines collide and curve in jagged clusters, while Fingertip No. 6 leaves open spaces around gently bending strokes, like vibrating strings. Together, the works reveal the expressive and emotional range of Nakaoka’s sound-based, code-driven drawings.
