Description

Mario Klingemann’s Hic et Nunc - State of the Art - March 25th 2021 is a literal snapshot from NFT history—a document of the early flourishing of a platform that, until its closure in November 2021, served as a popular alternative marketplace for NFT artists and collectors.

As an early adopter of Hic et Nunc, Klingemann drew many others to the Tezos-based platform, which launched in early 2021 as an eco-friendly and accessible option for the NFT community before changes were made to the Ethereum protocol that made it less expensive and resource-intensive to use. This work is part of a series of NFTs, each released in an edition of 50, made up of all the tokens minted on Hic et Nunc by the date in the title—in this case, 10,135 tokens, arranged by color similarity. (This includes failed minting attempts but excludes tokens by banned accounts and some file formats such as SVG, HTLM, and GLM.)

The graphic is 7296 by 7232 pixels. At the time, nearly 1,000 works were being added to the platform daily.
