Maruzen
cover: Kōhei Sugiura

Description

Special issue of the state industrial-design research institute’s journal. The section opens with Return to a Square as a full-page frontispiece, captioned “a square and a woman’s profile given to the computer as data and topology-transformed—production: CTG.” Three members wrote for the issue: Tsuchiya on bringing computers into design practice, Fujino on ship design, and Niwa on the computer’s history and logic (also included are Shigeru Watanabe, “Man versus Machine,” and Hiroshi Kawano on information aesthetics). Kōhei Sugiura’s graphic-design survey reproduces Kennedy in a Dog.
