Across the 400 works in kylt, Phlins coaxes mesmerizing variability from a single algorithm, using code to explore the slow unraveling of digital structure. The collection’s unifying theme is decomposition—each output captures a different stage in the breakdown of order into chaos.

In kylt, Phlins’s generative process produces lattice-like formations that appear to have been torn from their original contexts. The closest to a cohesive whole is #20: a tapestry of inky black squares suspended on vertical threads of purple and yellow. In #142 and #223, these structures begin to disintegrate. The strings in #142 twist, fray, and drift apart, while #223 reduces them to multicolored threads that lash outward from the frame’s center. By #291, the process of decomposition is complete—faintly shaded lines dissolve into the background, and once-square forms stretch into irregular polygons, scattered with only the faintest algorithmic logic to hold them together.

Through kylt, Phlins transforms generative precision into a study of digital entropy, revealing beauty in the act of coded disintegration.
