The driving beats of early electronic music served as inspiration for Kim Asendorf’s X0X. The series contains 1,000 generative, on-chain works, each an abstract animation where colors swirl out of rainbow boxes to pulsing rhythms, driven by a version of Asendorf’s pixel-sorting algorithm.
The animation of X0X252, the iteration seen here,_ _begins the instant the work is loaded on a browser. A uniform grid of boxes on a black background display tight vertical stripes of the full spectrum of colors at maximum saturation. The hues pour out of their containers and begin swirling around the picture plane, overwhelming the other squares. Eventually the rainbow flood recedes and we return to the colorful boxes on black, only for the chromatic flood to begin again.
