Bootleg is a long-form generative art project created by rudxane.
In long-form generative art, the artist codes a single algorithm that creates hundreds, or even thousands, of similar--but different--versions of the final artwork. In the algorithm, the artist codes rules, parameters, and randomness that defines the work. Every time the algorithms is run, the output (and artwork) is different. Yet all outputs maintain unity of design.
Ragnar Digital owns the algorithm behind Bootleg, asking the question: is the art the algorithm or the output?
The artwork generated resembles a clock, ticking away as time passes. Visually inspired by Partituur, a work by Ulises Carrión, the work displays units of time along a grid structure. This structure is constantly updating where the time units are placed, while connecting different units of the same denomination.
Each output has a unique set of values, including speed, color palette, x, and y.
