Full Bio

Alejandro Campos, born in 1988 in Valencia, Spain, is a creative coder, architect, and historian who is now based in Rotterdam. He holds a Ph.D. in architectural history and theory from the Universitat Politècnica de València, where he serves as a tenured Assistant Professor. Between 2021 and 2024, he was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at TU Delft and a Research Associate at the Research Center for Material Culture in the Netherlands.

Campos’ artistic practice explores the intersection of art history, architecture, technology, and critical theory through generative systems. Grounded in deep academic training, his creative work blends algorithmic processes with analog techniques to investigate the aesthetic and conceptual possibilities of code-based image-making. He uses visual language to blend formal rigor with spontaneity, drawing on cultural references and experimental forms. His work invites reflection on authorship, memory, and the politics of representation in digital art.

He is the co-founder of the architecture office Arqtistic in Valencia, which develops projects spanning from built environments to exhibitions and academic research. His architectural and artistic work has received awards and been exhibited internationally, and he is widely recognized as a leading voice in rethinking the role of design, history, and technology in contemporary practice.

In Draftwerk, Campos and Beller collaborated by merging generative algorithms with physical painting techniques. Campos developed custom software to generate vector-based compositions, which Beller then interpreted through manual processes like taping and spray painting. The project explores the dialogue between logic and intuition, highlighting the interplay of digital structure and human expression.
