Full Bio

Iskra Velitchkova was born in 1988 in Bulgaria and currently lives and works in Madrid. A self-taught artist with a solid foundation in technology and artificial intelligence, she navigates the complex space between human experience and machine processes. Her work centers on generative art, where she combines digital systems such as neural networks and algorithms with physical media like drawing, sculpture, and ceramics. This hybrid approach allows her to explore how technology can reveal new dimensions of creativity, blurring the lines between the organic and the artificial.

Velitchkova’s practice is driven by curiosity about the unpredictable role of randomness in generative systems, seeing it as a kind of dialogue between artist and machine that opens unexpected creative paths. She challenges the idea that digital and physical art exist as opposites, instead showing how technology shapes not just the tools but the very language and structure of art. Her work invites us to reconsider how we relate to nature, technology, and each other, pushing beyond traditional boundaries to ask new questions about meaning, beauty, and connection in a digitally-driven world.

Her work has been exhibited at leading institutions and galleries, from her solo show ESCAPE at Tonic in New York to her commissioned piece Aux carrés for In Search of Vera Molnár, shown at the Ludwig and Pera Museums. She has collaborated with Avant Arte, participated in curated shows with Feral File, and had works auctioned at Sotheby’s and Christie’s.
