Description

Roman Verostko worked to achieve a harmony in his compositions between “random selection” and “rational control” in order to create forms that bridged organic, digital, and spiritual realms. Coded using Basic and Digital Microprocessor/Plotting Language (DM/PL) and running on the artist’s custom Hodos software, a recursive algorithm drove a plotter to draw overlapping curvilinear forms from a single set of coordinates. By carefully adjusting the parameters within which the computer could make its choices, Verostko was able to maintain control over the final composition.
