An exercise in algorithmically generated convergence and divergence, Shunsuke Takawo’s Marching Resonances series uses overlapping forms and contrasting colors to draw a sense of calm from visual tension. In Marching Resonances #36, a dense composition of curves, spikes, and loops unfolds in soft oranges, yellows, and browns, punctuated by flashes of turquoise. The result is both autumnal and aquatic, balanced between warmth and coolness.

The series reflects Takawo’s engagement with Japanese aesthetics, from its palette—drawn from traditional dyeing practices—to its intended harmony with the architecture of Japanese residences such as Kyu Asakura House in Tokyo.
