“Cut,” in the context of making art with code, is usually listed with “copy” and “paste.” In the case of Anna Carreras’s Moreno, however, cutting is quite literal, as the final step in this generative art series involved physically cutting prints by hand to give to collectors of the digital works.
Carreras frequently pushes beyond algorithmic outputs to material, installation, and interactive explorations. Moreno is a series of 15 algorithmically generated abstractions featuring dense, angled forms defined by gradients of vibrant but carefully chosen colors, inspired by Mediterranean seascapes. The series was released on the digital art platform Highlight.
