Description

Created in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Zancan’s Sunflowers was issued as series of both NFTs and prints. The project draws on the sunflower’s status as a national symbol of resilience, transforming it into a generative meditation on collective strength.

Each sunflower is built from hundreds of individually generated parabolas, their petals, stems, and seed patterns algorithmically assembled from simple lines and shapes. In the densely layered composition, more than a hundred blossoms rise amid intricate foliage of berries, branches, and fronds. When viewed from afar, these accumulations of small elements cohere into a monumental field.

Splatters of deep red punctuate the scene, evoking the human cost of conflict. Sunflowers stands as both a technical and emotional achievement: a coded tribute to endurance, and a reminder of beauty persisting through devastation.
