Onto the orange, and wrapped in yellow and green is an NFT and digital print by the pseudonymous Himalayan artist Khwampa. Like all Khwampa’s works, the image was made with MS Paint, placing it within a small but significant movement of creators using the basic graphics drawing program for highly sophisticated ends.
This image features a long, horizontal, scroll-like backdrop densely overlaid with an array of quasi-surreal forms, patterns, and marks in shades of orange, yellow, and green. Khwampa has described his work as an intuitive process drawing on a “visual archive” of cultural motifs and memories that have accumulated in his mind. Here, both the palette and certain shapes seem to echo traditional Himalayan art.
The work is from a series called Highway and Byways, consisting of 13 images minted as ERC-721 tokens in March 2025. The series was released on the NFT platform Verse, with an accompanying print.
