Satoshi Aizawa’s The Path is a long-running project that visualizes motion through algorithmically generated loops. Each work traces the restless movement of lines and forms that continually redraw themselves, creating patterns too intricate to follow from beginning to end.
In The Path v2016-03-26, a single white thread spools and unspools in spiraling clusters, its frenetic energy anchored by a taut line at the center. The Path v2019-12-19 features a five-limbed structure of overlapping squares that shift and flip in unison, their synchronized movement forming a complex choreography.
Aizawa’s loops resist resolution. Their starting and ending points dissolve into perpetual motion.
