The five untitled works in this series by Kim Asendorf represent one-off experiments executed that formed the basis for subsequent projects. In this selection of digital sketches, we can see attributes that appear in other of Asendorf’s works, like the pixel-level distortions of #6, which use the artist’s pixel sorting algorithm. Sketches #1, #3, and #5 all use continual algorithmic animation and pulsing distortions along with mostly black-and-white palettes. The most colorful and pictorial of the group is #4, which uses simple algorithmic means to render a smooth horizontal array of color gradients, like a landscape seen from the window of a moving car.
