Black, orange, pink, and yellow marks seem to vibrate out from the center of the square image. Glance #12, a plotter drawing by Marc Maurer, is one of a series of still images, but its rhythmic marks and nearly symmetrical design give it a sense of movement.
While the tendrils of the composition are not quite symmetrical, they still evoke the feeling of a Rorschach test. The artist describes these works as an exploration of the tension between modern life and the natural world, an abstract depiction of digital saturation and a longing for an existence that’s somehow more organic. Through warm color palettes and the softening effects of pixelation, Maurer manages to find a balance between computation and nature.
